Health, Safety, and Security Manager Afghanistan

What we are looking for

NRC is looking for a Health, Safety, and Security Manager to join the Afghanistan mission. The role holder will ensure compliance with NRC’s standards and reducing the overall risk on operations across the country. This includes developing and updating strategies, plans, and standard operating procedures, as well as providing mitigation measures for safe and secure program access.

What you will do

• Monitoring and analysis of security and risks.
• Mitigation measures placed.
• Security briefings and updates.
• Duty of Care standards.
• Emergency preparedness oversight and technical support.
• Incident management and support to operational teams and management.
• Humanitarian access support through technical support and capacity building.
• Leadership by establishing departmental objectives, managing staff, and coordination of systems.
• Support, manage, train, and develop staff.
• External stakeholder communication.
• Risk management support.

What you will bring

• Security management experience in a humanitarian/recovery context.
• Humanitarian access analysis and civil- military coordination expertise.
• Complex, and volatile context exposure.
• International exposure in a high-risk environment.
• English fluency, both written and verbal.

• The humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is complex, protracted, and worsening. The country recently underwent a regime change in a short space of time. The current regime has limited resources and/or systems in place to provide basic services. In addition to this, internal displacement has taken place due to conflict, climate change, and the economic crisis currently experienced in the country.
