Job Description:About the role…The good news is that our continued success and business growth has opened up an exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven and enthusiastic Health and Safety Manager to join our successful team on our Screwfix contract in Lichfield. This is a critical role to manage the Health and Safety within the distribution centre.How will you contribute?·You will manage the health and safety function at the DC, including supervision of staff to ensure delivery of objectives.·Your responsibilities will include ensuring a safe working environment for employees and visitors on site, and ensuring the depot is operating within health and safety legal requirements and in line with the company policies and procedures.·Proactively leading, you will ensure collaborative health and safety projects, both at site and supporting Wincanton group initiatives.·You will provide authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within designated area of responsibility.·By reviewing and auditing arrangements for health & safety management you will be continuously improving these arrangements where appropriate.·You will provide strategies to plan and organise work systems to reduce health & safety risks and recommending suitable adaptations to equipment, practices and processes.·Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for H&S statistics and providing management information and statistics for internal and external stakeholders.·Drive behavioural culture change programme across a large, growing, multi shift operation.·Responsible for ensuring all site risk assessments are refreshed and that all training conducted at site is in line with legislative requirements and company best practice.·Ensure the site management team are fully equipped to conduct and investigate all accidents and incidents and make proactive changes to site working practices where agreed.What will you bring?·Qualified to NEBOSH certificate level or equivalent with relevant H&S Management experience preferably in a retail / supply chain warehouse environment.·Excellent team building, leadership and motivational skills.·Must demonstrate the ability to communicate and influence in an open and honest manner with individuals at all levels within the organisation·Excellent communication and influencing skills – results focused with good organisational and analytical skills.·Up to date knowledge of essential UK H&S legislation.·Influencing skills and strategies to be able to build buy in to change.·Demonstrable record of driving significant change through an operation.What do we offer?Our Culture & BenefitsIn addition to a generous salary, we really value our people and offer a friendly, safety-first working environment, along with other benefits including company pension scheme, generous holidays, cycle to work scheme, online discount platform, and much more.Our people are at the core of our business and what makes Wincanton great.
