Selective Placement Factor:

Basic Requirement:
Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

Specialized Experience:
GS-13: In addition to the Selective Placement Factor and Basic Requirement, you MUST have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position include: a) serving as technical expert in HIV care & treatment programming in developing countries or with USG and multilateral stakeholders; b) providing guidance and support for HIV treatment and/or related health programs in developing countries; c) contribute to the development policies, strategies, and plans for for HIV care and treatment programming in developing countries.

GS-14: In addition to the In addition to the Selective Placement Factor and Basic Requirement, you MUST have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position include: a) serving as technical expert in HIV care & treatment programming in developing countries or with USG and multilateral stakeholders; b) managing and providing strategic direction and guidance for HIV treatment and/or related health programs in developing countries; c) developing policies, strategies, and plans for HIV care and treatment programming in developing countries

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, relevant to the duties of the position to be filled, including volunteer experience.
