About your environment

Since our establishment in 1936, Cancer Council Victoria has developed an international reputation for our innovative work in cancer research, prevention and support. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, we play a leading role in reducing the impact of all cancers on all people.

DIVISION SUMMARY

The Prevention Division aims to prevent cancer for all Victorians. This is done through community interventions, mass media, advocacy, training and providing policy advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to reduce cancer risk. We prioritise health inequalities, especially in relation to Aboriginal people, and in culturally diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

UNIT SUMMARY

The Quit program is a joint initiative of Cancer Council Victoria, the Department of Health and VicHealth. Quit’s purpose is to end the devasting impact of tobacco and vapes on Victorian people and communities. The Quit program has been provided with funding from the Commonwealth Government to create a National Quit™ Cessation Platform, a national digital hub to support people who smoke and/or vape to quit.

About your opportunity

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Quit’s subject matter and make practical recommendations on content, mediums and messaging for various platforms and audiences.
  • Take responsibility for creating and updating written content for the National Cessation Platform, ensuring it remains optimised and relevant.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure all content is factually accurate, aligned with the brand’s tone, and tailored to meet the needs of diverse user groups, including individuals seeking counselling, their families, and the broader community.
  • Produce clear, engaging, and accurate communications that position quit.org.au as Australia’s leading national cessation resource.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Health Promotion, Communications, Journalism, or a related field and/or substantial experience in a related field.
  • Ability to interpret research, see opportunities and engage multiple stakeholders to develop compelling and timely content.
