The Opportunity

Abt Global seeks a qualified Healthcare Project Director to play a leadership role in our work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As a Senior Equity Associate within the Equity Capability, you will help to operationalize and execute an equity led roadmap that supports client needs and staff on projects and new opportunities. You will implement culturally responsive and equitable approaches to monitoring, evaluation, research, learning and adapting, as well as human-centered, intersectional approaches to technical assistance; and will lead your work in a manner that models and reinforces equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility and that elevates Abt’s vision, mission, values, culture, and strategic priorities. You will lead work in the health care portfolio and support business development efforts. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing projects related to healthcare policy, program operations, and delivery, communicating directly with clients, and leading an interdisciplinary team of health care researchers and professionals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve in project director role for CMS-funded projects focused on Medicare policy, oversight, and program operations with particular focus on post-acute care settings and programs including, but not limited to: home health, hospice, skilled nursing, inpatient rehabilitation, long-term care hospitals and inpatient psychiatric care.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with clients and ensure that client needs and requests are understood by project team.
  • Provide oversight to team and ensure that all deliverables are delivered on time and are reviewed for quality and accuracy.
  • Manage project budgets by reviewing and updating project schedules, and plan resources for work to be completed.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to articulate staffing needs of the project, establish expectations for staff time, and provide feedback on staff performance. Coach, review, and delegate work to early career professionals
  • Report on project health to Abt management team and employ solution-focused approach to project and team management.
  • Ensure collaborative nature in working with other contracting teams that support CMS programs.
  • Develop and disseminate project deliverables and other products to share project findings through papers, technical reports, client briefings, presentations, blog posts, podcasts, videos and/or social media.
  • Serve as a prime spokesperson on company’s technical capabilities and future directions. Represent Abt in a professional manner and effectively communicate with clients, external partners, and the public. Often instrumental in attracting and obtaining major new company business.

What We Value

  • Bachelors + 12 Master’s degree + 10 years or PhD + 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience leading implementation, operations, or technical assistance contracts for CMS programs and models with an equity lens.
  • Demonstrated commitment to human centered, equity led approaches to supervision and project delivery working with key HHS clients in the healthcare portfolio (e.g., CMS, HRSA, AHRQ).
  • Expertise with Medicare programs, policies, quality measures and alternative payment models with particular emphasis on post-acute care settings and programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to deliver clear and concise messages to project team and to client.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead activities, manage tasks and budgets through the project lifecycle, and coordinate the work of multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality work on time and budget.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and pivot quickly to meet evolving client needs and requests.
  • Experience building consensus with diverse clients and project teams to harmonize client priorities and team resources.
  • Aptitude and interest in mentoring early career staff and managing multidisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated experience translating research and making it accessible to practice, policy, and/or government audiences.
  • Demonstrated success with business development and proposal writing.
  • A well-rounded interpersonal skill set with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients, funders, and health policy leaders, and to work effectively in a team environment.
