Based in Phoenix, Arizona, the Healthy Cities Program in the Arizona Chapter was established to help change the relationship between Valley cities and nature, so that both can thrive. In the Phoenix Metro Area, TNC is committed to increasing and maintaining a healthy tree canopy for mitigating extreme heat in frontline communities in the face of a warming climate. The Arizona Healthy Cities Program Director leads and manages the Healthy Cities Program for the Arizona Chapter and is responsible for developing and implementing innovative, high impact strategies that equitably build cool, healthy, and climate-resilient cities in Arizona, with a focus across the Phoenix Metro Area. The Arizona Healthy Cities Program Director will build strategic partnerships and implement nature-based solutions that address urban sustainability challenges, including urban heat, and meaningfully transform the urban landscape. This includes building the capacity of frontline communities impacted first and worst by climate change and scaling nature-based solutions with public and private sector partners.

The Arizona Healthy Cities Program Director (AZHCPD) plays a leadership role in designing and overseeing the Arizona Chapter’s urban strategies that improve urban life and maximize resilience and benefits for communities. The AZHCPD establishes the Conservancy as a major urban conservation partner in Arizona, with a focus in the Phoenix Metro Area. This position also leads innovative and critical thinking, negotiates complex and innovative solutions, and implements conservation strategies at scale in support of the Chapter’s priorities and the Conservancy’s 2030 Goals. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Strategy Development and Implementation (approximately 50%)
Building and Sustaining Relationships (approximately 20%)
Team Management (approximately 15%)
Conservation Leadership (approximately 5%)
Other (approximately 10%)

SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $81.900-$99,360 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
