The ICCT seeks a new Researcher who will contribute their energy and creativity towards policy-relevant research that will shape the technology transition now underway in the U.S. commercial truck and bus fleet. Representative work can be seen at the ICCT’s heavy-duty vehicle program page. This full-time position will be based out of our San Francisco or Washington, D.C office.

 

This position is best suited to someone who meets the minimum qualifications and also brings knowledge and practical skills in one of two areas: (1) vehicle fleets, including vehicle technology, performance, or cost in a commercial truck or bus fleet, or (2) utility performance, including utility planning, engineering, finance, or regulation. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a technical field, will have research experience, and will have professional experience in a fleet or utility setting. You Will:

 

  • Gather, review, and interpret technical and policy literature;
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data;
  • Author publications, such as blogs, working papers, and reports;
  • Prepare presentations and participate in meetings, workshops and conferences;
  • Organize briefings, meetings, and workshops;
  • Lead or manage small internal projects (typically less than 100K);
  • Mentor interns and fellows;
  • Assist with the development of funding proposals, strategies, and new projects;
  • Assist the communications team with outreach strategy and media engagement;
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise on a specific technology or policy topic;

 

 

You Have:

 

  • B.S. degree in a STEM or other related field with 4 years work experience required. M.S., degree in a STEM or other related field with a minimal of 1 year of work experience highly desirable. Candidates with degrees relating to mechanical or electrical engineering will receive preference.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing and summarizing data sets.
  • Experience producing technical reports and presentations.
  • Experience with data processing tools such as R, Matlab, Python or similar is preferred.
  • Experience managing small projects is a plus
  • Candidates who bring any of the following will receive preference:
  • Knowledge or experience relating to vehicle technology, fleet performance, fleet logistics, fleet operations or fleet management;
  • Knowledge or experience related to utility regulation, utility planning, utility finance or utility engineering;

 

 

Our Benefits

 

This full-time position will be based in our Washington, D.C. or San Francisco, CA office and have a salary of $85,100 (DC) or $93,600 (SF). We offer an excellent benefits package including health insurance, paid vacation and family leave, a 401k plan with a generous 7% employer contribution, hybrid office/remote flexibilities, transportation subsidy, and other benefits.
