Salary: $5,370.00 – $6,227.00 Monthly

This position supports the mission and goals of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) by supervising the daily activities of the road maintenance crew in the safe and efficient performance of Road Maintenance and Abandonment Planning ( RMAP) activities including; removing fish barriers, installing fish passage structures, road maintenance, decommissioning, abandonment and, culvert replacement on DNR managed roads.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise one Equipment Operator Lead and three Equipment Operator 2s.
• Coordination of equipment, including occasional rentals, operators, and labor crew.
• Oversee equipment operations during maintenance and construction of assigned projects.
• Work with region engineers for scheduling, planning, and review of DNR Heavy Equipment projects.
• Schedule and report maintenance needs.
• Complete proper documentation.

Required Qualifications: 

• Experience effectively operating heavy equipment and supervising heavy equipment operators with the ability to demonstrate proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Knowledge of equipment capabilities and limitations and ability to assign/organize work so that operations remain within safe working parameters.
• Knowledge of current forest practices rules.
• Ability to interact/communicate positively and constructively with subordinates, project leads, mechanics, other DNR staff, contractors, and hired resources.
• Ability to independently devise safe, effective, and efficient assigned work.
