Summary of Job Duties:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment such as tractors, trailers, gasoline shovels, backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, and other heavy mechanized equipment. This position is weather essential.
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of sufficient education or training to read and write
At least two years of experience in operating heavy, mechanized construction and maintenance equipment or related area
Required license(s)/certification(s):
Valid Driver’s License/CDL
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Five years experience in operating heavy, mechanized construction and maintenance equipment or related area
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of procedures for operating heavy, complex, and mechanized equipment in accord with manual safety regulations and other instructions
Knowledge of the operation of heavy equipment, driving, and moving mechanized equipment
Skill in the operation of heavy equipment
Ability to service and perform minor maintenance on heavy equipment
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions and explanations
Ability to operate heavy, complex, and mechanized equipment
