What We Need 

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is a leading voice for U.S. protected waters, is seeking a Heritage Exhibit Manager to develop and manage exhibits showcasing the history and heritage of the nation’s oldest science agency.

What You’ll Do 

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage exhibits projects for NOAA Heritage. This includes working with the curator to develop exhibit content, monitoring the status of various exhibits projects, facilitating development and reviews of products, tracking to ensure projects stay on budget, coordinating contracts and quotes, and aiding in the RFP/RFQ process for project proposals. 
  • Develop interpretive plans for NOAA’s Heritage exhibits. 
  • Assist Heritage staff in coordinating new exhibit partnerships on NOAA campuses and in museums and science centers.  
  • Ensure accessibility guidelines are met on all public facing products, including exhibits, signs, documents, infographics, lesson plans, etc. Explore ways to increase diversity and inclusion in NOAA’s national heritage exhibits.  
  • Coordinate with the Sanctuaries National Interpretation Coordinator to develop maritime heritage content for inclusion in national NOAA heritage exhibits and ensure that the national NOAA heritage exhibit strategy aligns well with the Sanctuaries exhibit strategy.  
  • Coordinate special events as needed. 

Who You Are  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field  
  • 5+ years of experience working in exhibit and/or interpretive planning  
  • Active Certified Interpretive Guide certification  
  • Demonstrated experience in writing communication material  
  • Experience managing and coordinating projects and people  
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects  
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Ability to travel 10%-15% of the time 
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • Regular attendance required

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing exhibit projects

Compensation and Benefits: $65,000-$80,000 based on experience. The Foundation offers a competitive benefits package.
