How You’ll Make a Difference in This Role:
In this role, you’ll provide quality care and companionship for Aboriginal Elders and the broader community in their own homes, empowering their independence and improving their quality of life in Tuggeranong and Surrounding areas. You’ll be required to travel to clients’ homes and communities, using your own car.
Appropriate cultural knowledge and understanding of First Nations history, challenges and protocols is important to deliver effectively in this role. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
The care work you do may include:
- Help at home: housekeeping, grocery shopping or meal preparation
- Personal Care: personal hygiene, toileting, showering, dressing, helping at mealtime or with medication administration
- Supporting wellness through transportation: driving to appointments and accompanying clients on shopping outings or to Uniting’s Healthy Living for Seniors programs.
We’re seeking individuals who:
- Experience in aged or community care, or a passion to begin your career in aged care.
- Empathetic and resourceful and be able to live Uniting’s everyday values of being compassionate, respectful, imaginative, and bold.
- Flexible and prepared to help meet the changing needs and schedules of our home care clients.
- Full Australian driving licence and ongoing access to a reliable vehicle that’s comprehensively insured (not just CTP).
- Comfortable travelling frequently around the Tuggeranong and surrounding areas
