Hospitality, and dining, is a critical element in the daily operation of every Anglicare residential care homes. Anglicare has a responsibility to ensure our residents consistently receive the best dining experience at every home and that residents’ dietary requirements and food preferences are consistently delivered.
This is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Hospitality Area Operations Manager. Reporting to the Head of Food & Beverage, you will manage the day-to-day running of the Cafés and Functions within the domain with emphasis on resident, customer, and team satisfaction. They will provide leadership, support, motivation, and development of the Domain team creating a positive environment that encourages ownership, accountability and delivers a quality food and service experience.

- Lober Precinct kitchenettes (stock of utensils)
Key Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Assist with cafe and functions operations, acquiring, and maintaining a sound understanding of all menu items and ingredients, cultivating intuitive service and suggestive selling techniques, taking customer orders, delivering orders promptly and processing payments.
- Ensures that customer requirements are met by processing customer orders accurately and on time, keeping the Village Manager informed of customer queries/complaints, quality and financial issues and actively cooperating to ensure all functions meet agreed expectations for quality, cost and timeliness.
- Leads the efficient functioning of the day-to-day Café operations by acquiring and maintaining a sound understanding of all Café and Function procedures, ensuring all staff adhere to systems and procedures, overseeing the completion of shift duties in a timely manner and addressing and responding to any customer queries/complaints or staff issues.
- Ensures the efficient financial functioning of the cafe by monitoring and meeting budget targets, ensuring all cash on site is handled responsibly, optimising the sales and profitability of the Café, and managing the Point of Sale (POS) system to ensure updates and accuracy.
- Ensures appropriate utilisation of front of house stock through stock rotation, minimising stock wastage, using suitable ordering practices and establishing and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers.
- Manages and oversees the administration functions, including the rostering of FOH staff in the Domain, ordering of FOH provisions for the café including disposables (packaging, coffee, beverages), stock-take, purchase requisitions, maintenance requests, keeping regular notation of daily events, and providing customer feedback to the Village Manager.
- Leads and manages the FOH Domain teams by working in each venue in the Domain no less than one day a month. This will include managing staff, providing on-the-job training for new FOH staff, reporting in a timely manner any safety, production, or personnel issues to the Head of Food and Beverage/Village Manager and participating in new hire interviews.
- Ensures safe work practices are carried out within the safety, health, hygiene, and cleanliness standards set by Anglicare and the relevant health authorities by maintaining Anglicare standards and operating procedures, including HACCP and WHS policies.
- Contribute to the safety culture by keeping the workplace safe, clean, and tidy, complying always with safe work practices, participating in workplace consultation activities, actively participating in safety activities, including hazard and incident reporting as prescribed in the WHSIMS.
Skills, knowledge and experience needed
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a Café/Restaurant or function venue.
- Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Certificate
- A current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate
- A current First Aid certificate
- A valid NSW Police Check
- Competent English literacy (spoken & written).
- Desirable Qualifications (or willing to obtain):
- Computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Updating and maintaining POS system
