Your Opportunity

Mission Australia Housing Northern Territory has community housing operations in Darwin, due to a recent expansion or successful tender bid we are recruiting for a new Housing Officer to work within an integrated service delivery approach to deliver on our aim to be the community-housing provider of choice.

We currently have a Permanent Part time opportunity for a Housing Officer, it is a customer-facing roles that require previous experience in the property management or community housing industries.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Be the main point of contact with tenants throughout their tenancy
  • Conduct all of the arrangements to lease vacant properties quickly and effectively
  • Work with tenants to assist and support them in maintaining their tenancies, including linking tenants to support services as needed
  • Carry out property inspections at least every 6 months and complete required property reports
  • Ensure tenant rents are paid on time
  • Attend court/tribunal hearings where necessary to represent the interest of the organisation
  • Ensure tenancy and property records are kept up to date and information recorded meets the organisations and Regulatory standards
  • Maintain positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Actively contribute to developing and implementing strategies that connect tenants to additional support

Requirements for Success

  • Community housing experience or property management experience required
  • Knowledge of the NT Residential Tenancy Act and NTCAT process would be preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable client groups desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products for reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current Drivers’ Licence, WWCC are essential
  • Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to gain one
