About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader – Property Services, the Housing Services Worker manages an allocated portfolio of properties and tenancies. The role works directly with renters (and often in collaboration with the renters support provider) to support them to access and maintain safe, secure and affordable housing. The duties include:

  • Managing the provision of a portfolio of permanent, transitional and emergency housing, in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act 1997.
  • Managing an allocated portfolio of tenancies, from sign up to exit.
  • Working in collaboration with renters support networks to sustain tenancies.
  • Coordinating maintenance, repairs and cleaning of allocated property portfolio.
  • Responding to tenancy related complaints and communicate effectively with renters. and neighbours regarding their rights and responsibilities.
  • Supporting renters to sustain their housing and develop the skills of tenancy
  • Proactively managing tenancies at risk.
  • Facilitating successful housing exits and minimise vacancy periods.
  • Reconciling rents received and maintaining rental ledgers.
  • Representing wayss at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential and relevant electronic records and data.
  • Other reasonable duties as requested.

About You

You will have:

  • Experience in tenancy and property management.
  • A solid working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the operation of the community and private rental housing sectors.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in formal and informal partnerships to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to work with directly with renters and in collaboration with renters support partners.
  • A proven aptitude to relate positively and confidently with people from all walks of life, in a variety of settings.
  • Experience representing an organisation in a formal environment (such as VCAT)
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office skills and experience using a tenancy management system.

This role requires a current Driver’s Licence and valid Working with Children Check. The candidate will need to have successfully completed wayss’ pre-employment screening and a police check.
