The starting salary package for this position is £47,860 GBP / approx. $64,079 USD including all allowances.

About MAG

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role

MAG is looking to appoint a HR and Administration Manager to join its Syria Response programme. Reporting to the Country Director, you will support the continuous development and implementation of effective HR initiatives across employee relations, recruitment, reward, and performance management, ensuring compliance with local labour laws and MAG’s global policies. A key aspect of the role will be to design and roll out the expansion of the HR function and build the capacity of the local HR team. You will provide strategic support to the country Senior Management Team, promoting good management practice and strengthen HR capacity throughout the programme. The post-holder will also be responsible for managing the administration function, ensuring administrative systems and procedures effectively support our operations.

About you

The successful candidate will have previous experience of delivering HR services in an international NGO ideally in the Middle East, operating in insecure environments. You will also need experience of implementing a wide range of effective HR policies, procedures and projects. You will have developed HR frameworks in a variety of different contexts, effectively applying your knowledge of local labour law to ensure compliance. You will work closely with the team in-country and remotely with HR colleagues at HQ and you will therefore need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach to your work. Although not essential, knowledge of Arabic or Kurdish would be beneficial.
