The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking a HR Assistant to undertake a wide range of administrative support for HR activities. As a core member of the professional services team, you will actively contribute to the day to day running of the HR function, supporting the full employee lifecycle across recruitment, onboarding, payroll and other HR administrative tasks. This is a fixed term appointment until 21 March 2025 initially while the substantive post holder is on secondment.

This role is funded partly by our flagship Global Parenting Initiative (GPI), a multi-million-pound five-year project with a vision that is bold, ambitious, and immediate: to provide access to free, evidence-based, playful parenting support to every parent, everywhere, so that they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to help their children realise their learning potential.

About you

You will be educated to A level standard with GCSE (A-C) level English and Maths or equivalent, with relevant HR experience, knowledge of employment law and an awareness of data protection and information security guidelines. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience of providing a high level of customer service is essential as well as the ability to prioritise workload and produce accurate, detailed work within set deadlines. Experience of working with an electronic HR system is also desirable.

The role could be offered as a secondment opportunity for a candidate from within the university.

You will be based in Oxford as your normal place of work however there is opportunity for remote working (up to 40%FTE). The role is being offered as full time however we would be willing to accept applications from candidates wishing to work part-time (up to 80%FTE).
