Through People for 2030, OHR aims to be at the leading edge of HR in the international development sector by developing high quality and innovative human resources solutions to enable driving transformation across UNDP.  In this context and under the supervision of the HR Specialist, Organizational Design and Workforce Planning, the Human Resources (HR) Intern will support various initiatives on delivering a range of strategic HR services in Talent/Workforce Management, Competency Framework, Organizational Design and Job Design and Personnel Services Agreement (PSA). The incumbent will collaborate with other OHR teams to provide efficient client-specific HR solutions that are fair, consistent, objective and consistent with the policies and procedures of UNDP.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Capacity Mapping, Workforce Planning and Analytics:

  • Generate workforce data and conduct data analysis based on specific HR needs.
  • Prepare HR reports, presentations, briefing notes based on the analysis of the workforce.
  • Study and analyze the results of position management data.
  • Support with UNDP wide capacity mapping and Workforce planning efforts on Eva.ai platform.

Competency Framework and Generic JD Update:

  • Provide support in updating standards in job design (e.g. job description template, generic job descriptions for CO, Regional and Global Offices and HQ).
  • Assist with the update of the competency framework and collaborate with other units on integration of the competency framework in all HR processes.

Support Different Strategic HR Projects Within the Portfolio:

  • Support capacity building of Country Office and Headquarter staff on job design and organizational design issues.
  • Support cross-unit cooperation and coordination with a view on enhancing HR products and business solutions.
  • Assist with organizational design scenario planning in restructuring exercises.
  • Assist with any other HR related projects within the portfolio.
  • The incumbent performs other duties which makes part of this role explicitly open-ended as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:

Applicants to the UNDP Internship Programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (master’s degree programme or higher), preferably in the following areas of study such as Human Resources Management, Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organization Psychology, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Development Economics, International Relations, Organizational Development or any related fields.
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in area of study such as Human Resources Management, Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organization Psychology, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Development Economics, International Relations, Organizational Development or any related fields;
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and if selected must start the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this programme.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in the English language, both oral and written, is required.
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is highly desirable.
