We are looking for:

HR Officer international staff (70 or 80%)

Location: VVOB Head Office, Brussels Belgium

Deadline for applications: February 4th, 2024

When you join VVOB, you become a key player in VVOB’s mission to ensure quality education as a key enabler for achieving the sustainable development goals. Do you share our ambition to ensure that learners around the world can enjoy their fundamental human right to quality education, without exception? Great, because we are hiring an HR Officer international staff for VVOB’s head office in Brussels.

Purpose of the function

In striving for that ambition, we place our values ‘commitment’, ‘integrity’, ‘respect’, ‘quality’ and ‘innovation’ central. As HR Officer international Staff, you are responsible for implementing effective and efficient HR admin processes for our international staff, in line with the Global HR strategy and procedures and social legislation.

You are part of the HR team at VVOB headquarters and report to the Global Lead of HR. At the same time, you work closely with the other colleagues at headquarters and the HR colleagues in the countries.

Responsibilities:

  • You monitor the HR administration (payroll, insurance, taxation, etc.) of our international staff, answer their questions, and give advice where necessary.
  • You ensure that the HR manual, which contains our HR admin policies and processes, and working regulations are up to date, both for international staff and the global version for our country teams. You inform and advise the colleagues concerned about this.
  • You contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and support various HR projects and activities.

If you’re our HR Officer international staff, your workweek at the office may include the following highlights:

  • You have scheduled a number of meetings with HR colleagues from the countries. Together with them, you review the pros and cons of different contract types, according to the social legislation in these countries. Based on this information, you make an overall analysis and, together with the Global Lead of HR, see if any changes are needed.
  • A recently started expat is looking for a rental apartment and contacts you with a question about the repayment conditions. You schedule a meeting to look together at that country’s housing prices and conditions to paint a clear picture and provide the documents that need to be handed over for the housing allowance to be granted.
  • Lunch! An ideal time to catch up with colleagues at headquarters.
  • You prepare a meeting with an external expert in taxation. Together with the Global Director of Finance and Global Lead of HR, you want to explore how, with an increasingly international expat population, we communicate and advise on tax-related matters correctly.
  • You prepare the monthly payroll for international staff, ensuring that all modifications (fe salary increases) are processed correctly.
