About us
Lively Minds is an award-winning NGO working in Ghana and Uganda to get quality Early Childhood Development to last-mile communities. We see parents as the key lever for change. We train and empower marginalised parents to run educational Play Schemes for all the 3-6 year olds in their community and to provide better care at home, using their own resources. The programme is implemented and delivered by local government staff, leveraging and strengthening existing personnel, systems, resources, and infrastructure.
The programme is currently operating in over 3000 rural communities across Ghana and Uganda, where it has empowered over 100,000 parents and is reaching 220,000 children a year. We are now scaling nationally in Ghana, so that every rural child can benefit from the programme and in addition we plan to move in to at least one new country in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2026 and to influence ECD practices, policies and investment globally.
We are a bold and agile organisation. We are determined to make a lasting and transformative impact in the hardest to reach areas, and to do so in an innovative and sustainable way that centres communities and parents at the front of the solution.
