In this critical position, you will be responsible for inspiring and leading a dedicated team of five skilled technicians, each specialising in Groundworks, Bricklaying, and Carpentry. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of training and service delivery within our hub.As Hub Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our training operations, ensuring that our programs not only meet industry standards but also exceed the expectations of our trainees. You will cultivate a collaborative and motivating environment, encouraging your team to excel and innovate in their respective fields. Your role will involve setting clear objectives, providing ongoing mentorship, and facilitating professional development opportunities to empower your learners and enhance their skills so as to raise the industry standards.You will contribute to the growth of our Commercial Services, ensuring the success of procedural, technical, customer service, NVQ, and apprenticeship training programs. ResponsibilitiesWhat you’ll be doingYou will be responsible for the performance and delivery within the training hub and day to day operations, including planning of skills based training and a safe, efficient and thriving learning environment. Day-to-day, you will lead manage, promote, and grow the ongoing development of Commercial Services with regard to the NHBC training business through the provision of:

  • Procedural training, Technical training, Customer service/sales training, NVQ programmes, other apprenticeship programmes and Governance and Profit & Loss.
  • Working with educational bodies: Ofsted, ESFA and others.

Responsibilities extend to:

  • Business planning and budget management of the NHBC training business.
  • Leading a team of dynamic, multi-disciplined professionals.
  • Manage the co-ordination and delivery of apprenticeships/training/assessments/reviews to achieve qualitative and quantitative targets.
  • Liaising and consulting with customers, outside agencies, professional bodies, and government departments to ensure NVQ, apprenticeship and training programmes meet their qualitative requirements and ensure quality assurance procedures are effectively maintained, both internally and externally.
  • Maintaining NHBC’s accreditations, including NVQ awarding organisations, the Association of Project Safety, Ofsted, ESFA and other bodies as appropriate.
  • Coaching/training and supporting assessors, internal verifiers, and trainers to develop expert training, assessment, and candidate management skills.
  • Managing, monitoring, and ensuring the fair distribution of work within the team, including functional skills (where relevant).

Regulated programmes:

  • Ensuring sufficiently robust procedures are planned and executed to achieve positive awarding organisation audits & Ofsted (where relevant) outcomes.
  • Manage compliance of a team with regard to DBS, Safeguarding, Prevent & First Aid (as required).
  • Maintaining NHBC’s accreditations, including NVQ awarding organisations, the Association of Project Safety, Ofsted, ESFA and other bodies as appropriate.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Extensive Learning & Development background whilst leading a team within apprenticeships
  • Teaching/Assessing and Quality Assurance focus
  • Able to demonstrate reporting and confirming KPIs regarding apprentice progress, readiness, and compliance throughout programme
  • Able to demonstrate adaptability and agility in using staff across the business
  • Experience of Ofsted & ESFA Regulatory Framework
  • Fully conversant with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and Windows operating systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and a very strong quality-driven ethos.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to negotiate/communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A track record of taking concepts through to outcomes/accreditations in a Learning & Development field.
  • Evidence of instigating efficiencies and providing positive outcomes
  • Track record of working and managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Clear understanding and appreciation of workplace legislation and systems
  • Either a construction trade/site supervisory/management background, or track record of success managing a multi-trade provision
  • To have experience and worked with funding bodies, grants and traineeships relevant to skills based training.
  • Conversant and a working knowledge and understanding of the complexities of ESFA and working within Ofsted regulatory framework.

QualificationsEducation and Qualifications

  • Level 6 NVQ or equivalent vocational experience alongside an appropriate professional membership (or working towards) of a professional institution e.g. CIOB, CABE, BSC, RICS Cert.Ed, BILD, IOSH, CMI, CPI etc.
  • Teaching & learning qualification.
  • Either a construction trade/site supervisory/management background, or track record of success managing a multi-trade provision.
