Duties and Responsibilities
BACKGROUND The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint cooperation agency of the WTO and the UN for trade-related technical assistance. Its primary objective is to assist developing countries and economies in transition to enhance their international competitiveness while taking advantage of market opportunities and increasing their exports. The Human Resources Section has a transversal function in the organization and its aim is to ensure that ITC has the right quality of Human Resources with the appropriate skills and competencies in order to achieve its strategic and operational goals and to provide staff with a supportive, challenging and rewarding environment in order for them to fulfil their potential and maximize their contribution to the organization. This assignment is located within the HR Data Management and Analytics (HR-DMA) unit and will have the opportunity to collaborate with all HR units. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of the Associate HR Officer and overall guidance of the Chief HR, the selected intern will perform the following duties: • HR Data Management and Analytics unit: o Support the development of a HR Database for ITC and input data in systems; o Gather information for reports, statistics and analytics and conduct analysis of various HR indicators; o Support the visual design of data presentations and reports; o Draft communication materials and support drafting proposals. • Talent Acquisition and Development unit: o Support in scheduling various HR communications activities including using CANVA to communicate; o Support in collecting data and statistics particularly related to performance and learning; o Provide administrative support in projects such as Onboarding / Welcome Programme for Newcomers. • HR Administration unit: o Assist in the preparation and compilation of Consultants and Individual Contractors reports for auditing purposes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ITC’s internal standards and procedures; o Support in ensuring that all documents related to input of payment distribution instructions are in order; o Support the Internship programme through synchronizing the Internship Database with the Monitoring Table; o Create and update the CICs, Interns and UNOPS-contracted Mandatory Training Status Report. LEARNING ELEMENTS: On completion of the assignment, the intern is expected to: o Gain meaningful work experience in the area of human resources management for a trade-related technical assistance organization aimed to expand their academic, professional and personal learning; o Gain experience in the work of ITC and deepen knowledge and understanding of ITC’s goals, mission and their concrete implementation; o Gain knowledge and exposure to strategic communications and data presentation. Qualifications/special skills
Applicants to the programme shall, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of the first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or c) Have graduated with a university degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s equivalent) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
