The position
As Global Human Resources Director, you will oversee the HR operations of two biotechs across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with local labor laws, fostering a positive workplace culture, and driving strategic HR initiatives to support the organization’s growth. Ideally you possess a deep understanding of international HR practices, demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, and have a proven track record of managing HR functions in diverse geographical regions.
You will be part of the executive committees, will manage a team of 3 enthusiast HR professionals and will report to the Global Chief Executive Officer (CEO) It’s a full-time job based in Mont-Saint-Guibert (South-East Brussels) with 15% travel.
Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership:
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s global objectives;
Provide strategic guidance and support to senior management on HR matters;
Drive initiatives to promote a high-performance culture and employee engagement across all locations.
International HR Operations:
Oversee HR operations in multiple countries, ensuring consistency and compliance with local laws and regulations;
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent globally;
Coordinate and implement global HR policies and procedures, adapting them to fit local contexts.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, employment standards, and company policies in each country;
Develop and maintain risk management strategies to address potential HR-related issues.
Conduct regular audits of HR practices and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Employee Relations and Development:
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment across all regions;
Address employee grievances and resolve conflicts in a timely and effective manner;
Oversee employee development programs, including training, mentoring and succession planning.
Performance Management:
Manage performance appraisal systems and processes to support employee development and organizational goals;
Develop and monitor key HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR initiatives and programs;
Provide coaching and support to managers on performance management and employee development.
Compensation and Benefits:
Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs that align with local markets and company strategy;
Conduct regular market analysis to ensure compensation and benefits remain competitive;
Ensure equitable and fair practices in compensation and benefits administration.
HR Technology and Data Management:
Implement and manage HR information systems to streamline HR processes and improve data management;
Utilize HR data and analytics to drive decision-making and strategic planning;
Ensure the security and confidentiality of employee data across all regions.
Internal communication:
Coordination of internal communication initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred;
Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role;
Proven international experience managing HR operations across multiple countries including 1 to 2 years of experience in Belgium and The Netherlands as a minimum;
Knowledge of international labor laws and in-depth knowledge of HR best practices;
Similar sector experience is recommended;
Strong leadership and team management skills;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Fluency in English; French or Dutch knowledge is a plus.
