Duties and Responsibilities
The Staffing, Diversity and Outreach Section, Strategic Talent Management Service, Global Strategy and Policy Division of the Office of Human Resources/DMSPC seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Intern to join our team. The prospective intern must have a strong interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion; effective communication and interpersonal skills; capable of working collaboratively in a team environment; ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. The intern will support the workstream responsible for outreach, assisting targeted talent outreach campaigns to draw the broadest pool of candidates for Secretariat positions, and focusing on attracting candidates from unrepresented and underrepresented Member States. The team develops innovative talent outreach initiatives to attract and retain a diverse workforce in the Organization. The intern will report to the Human Resources Officer. Responsibilities: 1. Content Development: • Assist in brainstorming and developing engaging content ideas for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). • Collaborate with the team to create written and visual content that aligns with brand guidelines and resonates with the target audience. • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality content for scheduled posts. 2. Graphic Design: • Utilize graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) to create visually appealing graphics, images, and videos for social media posts. • Experiment with different design styles and formats to optimize engagement and reach. 3. Posting Online: • Schedule and publish content across various social media platforms using social media management tools (e.g., Buffer, Hootsuite). • Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and respond promptly as needed. 4. Campaign Management: • Support in the execution and management of social media campaigns, including paid advertising campaigns if applicable. • Assist in targeting specific audience segments and optimizing campaign performance. 5. Engagement Tracking: • Monitor and track engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments, clicks, etc.) across social media channels. • Analyze engagement data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. 6. Analytics Documentation: • Collect and organize social media analytics data for regular reporting. • Maintain detailed records of key performance indicators (KPIs) and campaign metrics. 7. Reporting: • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive social media performance reports. • Summarize key findings, insights, and recommendations for improvement. • Present reports to the social media team and stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite — InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat — and Microsoft Office. Experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects is desirable. Experience with social media management for business/organizational accounts is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
