What You’ll Do: As the Humanitarian Advocacy Advisor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that the diverse needs of people affected by crises are met, and their rights are protected under international humanitarian, human rights, and refugee law. You will:
- Support CARE’s country offices and regions in developing advocacy strategies and messages for large-scale and high-priority humanitarian crises.
- Strengthen connections between in-country advocacy efforts and global decision-making centers, ensuring that CARE’s positions are well-represented.
- Provide hands-on advocacy support through direct deployments or other mechanisms to make sure our message is heard.
- Lead key activities for the Humanitarian Affairs Advocacy Team, including managing small grants for country office advocacy initiatives.
- Represent CARE in important meetings and global coordination structures, advocating for a locally-led and effective humanitarian system.
What We’re Looking For:
- A degree in a relevant field (international affairs, law, humanitarian studies, social sciences, women’s studies, etc.) and 5+ years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a strong focus on advocacy.
- Deep understanding of the international humanitarian system, including its governing bodies and key players.
- Proven experience in designing advocacy initiatives and crafting compelling messages that drive change.
- Strong communication and diplomatic skills, with an ability to work effectively across cultures.
- A knack for staying organized and meeting deadlines, even when the pressure is on.
