The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) provides protection and assistance to millions of people affected by armed conflict and violence across the world and works in some of the hardest to reach war torn places on earth. To ensure that vulnerable people receive the support they need, the ICRC raises more than a billion dollars annually from generous private individuals, governments, National Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies, foundations, and corporations, to support its work.

People, governments and businesses of the Gulf region care deeply about the grave humanitarian consequences caused by conflict and violence, and we are seeking an experienced networker from within the region to join our Resource Mobilization team.

This Resource Mobilization Officer role requires a highly motivated individual who is an expert in networking, influencing and negotiation and with demonstrable skills and experience in donor stewardship. The Resource Mobilization Officer will work within a broader ICRC team and with the Red Crescent Societies of the region to increase income for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement including ICRC operations globally.

Purpose of the post

The Resource Mobilization Officer based in Riyadh is the focal point for questions/tasks related to reporting and information sharing. She/he is responsible to address the questions from donors and from the field regarding fundraising and supports the NAME market team to manage the donor relationships.

Main responsibilities

·       Interacts with REM interlocuters and maintains and develops relationships with them via networking and similar activities and in line with the Unit’s priorities.

·       Creates and updates the relevant fundraising databases including data entry and analysis.

·       Manages events and coordinates the logistics by liaising with internal and external stakeholders and service providers.

·       Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments in line with ICRC and donor protocol.

·       Contributes expertise and experience to the unit’s planning and strategy (when relevant).

·       Collects and consolidates information for funding proposals, appeals and reporting documents.

·       Supports in the preparation of high-level visits to the region, to the delegation, or to HQ and field, including contributing to briefing files and meeting logistics and ensuring protocol is understood and followed.

·       Prepares, with the support/collaboration of other team members, funding proposals when needed and any additional reporting.

·       In charge of preparing funding proposals, of the reporting and of the revision of agreements to and from the donors in close coordination with the relevant subject matter experts and under the guidance of the REM Country Manager.

·       Collects and shares information to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses.

 

Skill requirements :

·       University degree required (BA and or MA) preferably in social sciences, international development studies, business administration.

·       Fluency in English and Arabic both spoken and written is a must.

·        In-depth knowledge of and familiarity with cultures, businesses, and philanthropy practices in the GCC and the wider Middle East.

·       Good understanding and ideally first-hand experience of current humanitarian issues and priorities.

·       Experience of the functioning of the humanitarian and/or development communities.

·       3-5 years’ professional experience in a similar role.

·       Excellent digital literacy (MS Office, CRMs, Business Intelligence Tools, social media, etc.)

·       Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.

·       Accomplished interpersonal, networking and organizational skills.
