SCOPE AND NATURE OF THE SERVICES:
Scope of Work Summary:
- To design and implement a comprehensive training for health professional based on WHO Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP), with the aim of improving the identification, management, and treatment of mental health conditions at primary and secondary health care levels.
Key Delivery Milestones
Planning:
- Collaborate with Health Working Group coordinator, MHPSS Sub-working group coordinator, Relief International, and HWG/MHPSS partners within NES during the period of delivery of the training.
- Develop a work plan and training schedule including timelines, resources needed, and key performance indicators to measure progress and success.
Curriculum development and customisation:
- The mhGAP training curriculum will be based on the existing WHO mhGAP intervention Guide, customising it as needed to fit the contextual realities of North East Syria.
- Prepare training materials, including slides, handouts, case studies, role-play scenarios and assessment tools.
- Ensure that the curriculum covers priority conditions as per mhGAP, such as depression, psychosis, bipolar disorders, epilepsy, suicide, dementia, and substance use disorders.
Training delivery
- Deliver interactive and participatory training sessions, using adult learning principles and methodologies such as group discussions, case studies and practical demonstrations.
- Emphasize the practical application of mhGAP protocols and interventions to common mental health scenarios that health workers encounter.
- Facilitate skill-building exercises to enhance trainees’ competencies in diagnosing, managing, and referring individuals with mental health conditions.
Evaluation and feedback:
- Develop a pre and post training assessments to evaluate trainees’ knowledge, skills and confidence in using mhGAP guidelines.
- Collect and analyse feedback from trainees to assess the effectiveness of the training and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide a report summarising training outcomes, feedback from participants and recommendations for follow-up or support.
Timeline:
- The actual training dates is tentatively planned for 24th – 28th of November 2024.
- Draft copy of the training report to be submitted on the 5th December and Final report by or on 12th December 2024
INFORMATION, SERVICES OR RESOURCES TO BE PROVIDED BY THE TRIANER.
- The delivery of the training that will be closely coordinated with MHPSS Sub working group Coordinator, and Health Working Group Coordinator.
- A list of all materials needed for the successful delivery of training will be provided by the trainer to Relief international, these will include the following:
- Training materials and stationery
- Participant handouts and printing services.
- A detailed training report with recommendation.
