UNICEF’s Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology. The GSSC focuses on taking business process improvement and innovation to a new level, by developing new business solutions via process redesign and optimization, system integration, workflow digitization and the adoption of frontier technologies including robotic process automation, artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics, while maintaining an end-to-end focus on processes and services offered.

How can you make a difference?

The Automation System Architect is critical in our organization’s digital transformation, crafting and deploying sophisticated automation solutions to streamline business processes, boost efficiency, and foster innovation. This individual brings a wealth of knowledge in automation technologies and system architecture alongside a solid foundation in software development and IT infrastructure.

UNICEF GSSC is looking for a talent engaged in the entire lifecycle of automation projects—from conceptualization and implementation to management. This involves enhancing operational efficiency, recommending and implementing solution tools and environments, and designing essential workflows.

The position requires collaboration and effective partnerships with the Information Technology department, business stakeholders, and other involved parties. The goal is to identify opportunities for automation and create strategic plans that incorporate Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and similar automation techniques.

This is a Temporary Appointment (TA) for 9 months and will be renewed subject to availability of funds.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (University degree) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with specialized training or work experience in the fields of RPA and other Process Automation technologies is required. Master’s degree in a relevant field is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as an Automation Architect, System Architect, or in a similar role with a focus on automation technologies.
  • Solid understanding of programming languages such as AutoIt, Python, VBA, VBS or Java.
  • Expertise in RPA tools (e.g., Blue Prism UiPath, Automation Anywhere) and understanding of AI, ML, and workflow automation technologies.
  • Experience in designing and implementing complex automation solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess business processes and identify automation opportunities.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and understanding of API integrations, database systems, and software development.

Language:

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:

National Officer (NO) staff are nationals of the country in which they perform functions of a technical and professional nature. Eligible applicants are nationals of Hungary.

National Officer staff are locally recruited staff and therefore, are responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements.  UNICEF does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
