About the assignment

We’re looking for an ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Specialist who can live and volunteer for 12 – 24 months in Samoa.  

  • This assignment seeks to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ICT systems
  • To be considered for this role , you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) computer science, or a related field.
  • Provide support in various ICT systems used for Early Warning services crucial to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, particularly the Samoa Meteorology.

About the Partner Organisation

The Samoa Meteorology Division (SMD), based in Apia, plays a vital role in protecting life, property and economic development in Samoa by providing effective weather, climate, geoscience and ozone advisory services. It also provides meteorological, geo-science and climate change advice to support the sustainable development of natural resources in Samoa. It is the responsibility of the SMD to provide 24/7 multi hazard early warnings for the country.  

A volunteer is needed to provide additional technical support and assess the current practices related to tropical cyclone forecasting. They could identify any capacity, knowledge and process gaps and support training and knowledge transfer to address those gaps.

AUD$2,027 per month.

Requirements

All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 

  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.

Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
