IDB Lab Corporate Finance Consultant (LAB/FIA)

About this position:

We are looking for a dynamic, results-oriented, and client-focused corporate finance consultant to provide support on corporate finance, risk and human resources related activities.

You will work in the Finance and Administration Unit (FIA) of IDB Lab. This team is responsible for the management of human and financial resources and risk. It also manages 11 SLAs (Service-Level Agreement) with different IDB departments and with IDB Invest, and the IDB Lab Service Center. You will be reporting to the unit’s CFO and Deputy CFO.

What you’ll do:

  • Run financial scenarios and forecasts on an ad-hoc and regular basis for different IDB Lab funding sources.
  • Support CFO with the implementation of the financial model of new round of IDB Lab’s capitalization.
  • Deliver accurate and meaningful financial management analyses to enable the CFO and the business units to deliver on their financial and business objectives.
  • Support processes enhancements related to properly capturing and monitoring of financial fees associated with core mobilization efforts.
  • Contribute to, and deliver, presentations to communicate results, outcomes and actions to senior audiences including monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Support the review and design of corporate processes in accordance with the changing needs of IDB Lab as an innovation laboratory that are agile, efficient and flexible, contributing knowledge and new ideas to corporate workflows.
  • Support IDB lab multiple talent management initiatives such as: onboarding; engagement initiatives, including tools such as Kudos and Strengths finder, time and attendance among others. Including a monthly talent management newsletter for the IDB Lab Leadership team and tracking specific KPIs for these initiatives.
  • Help design and implement a Learning Plan for IDB Lab employees in line with strategic needs, skill gaps and employees’ interest, as well as tracking results via KPIs.
  • Support the automation and digitalization of initiatives related to a better tracking of costs, fees and time allocation by supporting the design and implementation of multiple dashboards in close coordination with Digitribe.
  • Support in the coordination of the use, creation and control of the proposals and their associated projects, as well as the allocation and control of expenses of the Productivity Fund, and of the funds of third-party resources managed by IDB Lab and generation of reports.

What you’ll need:

  • Education: A master’s degree in finance, economics, risk management, or a related field is required. Certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience with responsibilities in the development and/or implementation of financial models and projections, corporate processes, and operational efficiencies.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Key skills:

  • Exceptional skills in quantitative analysis and financial modeling. Ability to interpret complex financial data, model it and derive insightful conclusions
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex financial and risk management concepts to a diverse audience. Proficiency in preparing and delivering formal presentations to stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills in both English and Spanish, to prepare regular reports for senior managers and donors.
  • Advanced user of financial software tools and applications, including risk assessment and financial modeling platforms. Highly proficient in MS Excel, Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, showing a collaborative mindset and contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant IDB Group policies, procedures, systems (SAP, Convergence, Hyperion, ServiceNow) and databases, and management processes would be an advantage. Hands-on experience using digital technologies and content management systems with demonstrated knowledge in digital audience analytics, collection of business and system requirements, and reporting is desired.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

  • Type of contract: Consultant Full-Time.
  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Work Location: Headquarters, Washington DC.
