IFC’s Global MAS Tourism, Retail and Property (TRP) team is seeking two interns as part of our Global Internship Program (GIP).  The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. The program encourages individuals to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC’s work while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Moreover, the Global Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with international professionals dedicated to ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity in the developing world.

Duties and Accountabilities:

The project involves accessing various IFC systems (iPortal, iDesk, IRP, etc.) and reviewing debt and equity transaction documents to gather key details for populating the TRP deals database; reviewing existing TRP knowledge management tools and content and supporting the team in developing new ideas and content as applicable. Specific tasks include the following:

1. Data mining and population of the TRP deals database with information such as project description, credit ratings, key financial terms, financial covenants, structure, security, etc. Improving the database presentation leading to ease of use and retrievability.
2. Development of lessons learnt in TRP sub-sectors by product type
3. Update to the Retail Equity Strategy
4. Support on Greening Real Estate Investment Portfolios (GRIP) Advisory through:
• Global/regional mapping of key real estate players and contacts with green agenda and commitment and in nascent stage to begin decarbonization strategy across its portfolio (multi-asset owners)
• Case studies of effective tenant engagement strategy for asset owners to reduce GHG emission in non-controlled areas (scope 3)
• 1-pager summary on the latest requirement and guidance on the Building Sector under Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
• Launch of 1-2 knowledge management events with WSP on building sector decarbonization (webinar, white paper)
5. Portfolio and performance analysis (analyzing trends in non-performing loans, Risk-adjusted returns, IRR of the portfolio, investigating causes of the performance, etc.)
6. Support on project-specific queries from regional teams
7. Support on knowledge management efforts such as quarterly calls, guidance notes, sector strategies, etc.
8. Other tasks as necessary  

 

Selection Criteria

 

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree level program
• Preferred field of study: Masters in Business Administration (MBA); Finance;
• 2-3 years of previous work experience
• Fluency in English
