IFC’s CN4E1 is seeking an intern as part of our Global Internship Program (GIP).  The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. The program encourages individuals to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC’s work, while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Moreover, the Global Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with international professionals dedicated to ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity in the developing world.
Duties and Accountabilities:
S/he will report to the Regional Industry Manager (Infrastructure Investment) and the Malaysia country anchor; the main tasks of the Intern will include working with country anchor to:
  • Map various infrastructure subsectors (including power, transport, water, waste, telecom, and media) and the main private sectors in each
  • Reach out to and develop business relationships with government regulators and local private sector players
  • Develop communication material and presentations to assist in business development efforts
  • Collaborate with internal sector specialists and tailor a country strategy for each subsector of coverage
  • Assist in other projects, as may be needed
Selection Criteria:
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree level program
  • Preferred field of study: MBA, Finance, Economics
  • 2-3 years of previous work experience
  • Excellent writing skills, with prior experience in formal writing and drafting reports. Candidates are encouraged to share presentation samples and/or links to published written pieces.
  • Ability to work in Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur
  • Previous experience in infrastructure sub-sectors, good contacts with established local Malaysian players, and speaking Malay are a plus
  • Fluency in English
