About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for a permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week) role of Intensive Family Support (IFS)Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Practitioner, located at our Townsville venue.

To provide expert Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) support, assessment and service delivery guidance to Intensive Family Support (IFS) Case Workers and clients engaged in the IFS program. The IFS program delivers a range of intensive support services using a systematic case management model, to families with children aged unborn to 18 years old who are considered to be vulnerable. The aim of intervention is to prevent families from entering or re-entering the Child Protection statutory system.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Theoretical knowledge of domestic and family violence, specifically social justice, social constructionist, feminist perspectives and other relevant frameworks.
  • Assist with screening and assessment of domestic and/or family violence and respond to identified safety risks by incorporating a culturally sensitive lens to engagement with the client and collaborative decision making with the client around safety planning.
  • Provide information regarding referrals to specialist domestic and family violence services individuals affected by domestic and family violence
  • Undertake regular DFV Consultation with case workers for each of their cases in order to provide specialist information, resources and DFV intervention/practice guidance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and duty of care, including identification and assessment of domestic and family violence, child safety, threat of harm to self or others, and other risk factors; and take appropriate steps as required by organisational policy and procedure.
  • Understand and meet legislative and funding requirements including collecting and recording statistical data in a timely and accurate manner.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will possess:

  • Undergraduate qualifications in social or behavioural Science.
  • Demonstrated experience in domestic and family violence; people who use forms of violence/ abuse in their relationships; and, those impacted by domestic and family violence, including children.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and implementation of safety strategies and planning.
  • Understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act (2012), other relevant legislation and confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to conduct brief therapeutic intervention with vulnerable families of diverse backgrounds.

The salary being offered is $80,963.63 to $94,619.10 per annum pro rata, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. We also offered you as follows:
