About Moonee Valley City Council’s Immunisation Team

The Moonee Valley Immunisation team provides regular Immunisation sessions across the municipality in a variety of settings and is committed to providing safe and effective immunisation services to infants, secondary school students and vulnerable community members. The team are responsible for delivering a comprehensive Immunisation Program accessible across the municipality to minimise the risk of vaccine preventable disease within the community.

The Opportunity

Positioned within Council’s Family & Children Services department, you will be accountable for the control and prevention of the spread of infectious diseases within Moonee Valley through the provision of immunisation, education and advice. Providing a high level of customer service, you will also maintain professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medical supplies, equipment and vaccines for each immunisation session.
  • Advise Program Leader Immunisation on vaccine and medical equipment stock control.
  • Assist with the setting up of each immunisation venue.
  • Advise parents on pre and post vaccination care of children.
  • Vaccinate individuals in accordance with NH&MRC schedules and Council’s quality procedures; and,
  • Assess contraindications and consent for each person/child prior to vaccination.

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Division 1 Nurse and accredited Nurse Immuniser.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of immunisation within a public health setting.
  • Clear understanding of immunisation guidelines concerning contraindications and emergency procedures.
  • Current Working with Children Check; and,
  • Current and valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
