The Immunization Specialist is accountable for professional leadership in and contribution to the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and administration of the Immunisation programme in conjunction with Child Survival and Development, Maternal and Child Health, Health and Nutrition components within the country programme, to achieve the UNICEF’s Immunisation plus goals and objectives for the country.
Accountable for ensuring the UNICEF Immunisation programme promotes gender equality, with an emphasis on gender disaggregation, gender disparity identification and gender mainstreaming. Immunisation specialist is also
accountable for ensuring the country has tailored and context specific strategies to reach zero dose children and
achieve the set target for reduction of zero dose children in Somalia in line with national regional and global target for
Gavi 5.0 and IA230 using zero dose as an entry point for integrated PHC service delivery including integrating
COVID-19 vaccine.

The following minimum requirements:
• Education: An advanced university degree (equivalent to a Master’s) from an accredited institution is required in public health, Paediatric Health, Child Health, Epidemiology or other Health relevant disciplines.
*A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
• Work Experience: At least five (5) years of professional work experience at the national and international levels in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of health/Immunisation programmes. Professional work experience in a technical expert position related to child survival & health care.
