Overview
Bird Alliance of Oregon’s Aftercare Inclusion Lead’s are passionate nature enthusiasts, inclusivity advocates and relationship builders who are excited to help us run our aftercare program! Together with the aftercare team, you’ll lead joyful, curious and collaborative aftercare programming for children from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. You will develop and lead daily activities that center around nature exploration, music and art. Your day will start at 9:30 where you will help the summer camp team support our neurodivergent and/or campers who need a more personalized approach to increase inclusion amongst all of our campers. Before the camp day ends you will join together with the aftercare team to prepare for the day. Aftercare will run from 3:15-5:15 M-Th and 1:15-5:15 on Friday. You’re someone with experience in outdoor education or teaching in an informal setting (e.g. camps, parks, museums, community centers or comparable spaces), especially with neurodivergent and/or racially and socioeconomically diverse populations. You love nature and are excited about giving kids from all backgrounds opportunities to connect with the natural world. It’s essential that all educators have a strong comfort working in multiracial teams, a dedication to creating an anti-racist learning environment, and a commitment to advancing equity and inclusion through their practice. Candidates with lived experience working with youth of color, immigrants, and people from working class families are highly encouraged to apply.
