Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Inclusion Support Educator to join our team.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our educators, children, and families to support the inclusion of children with additional needs within our long day care centre. This role involves developing and implementing individualised support plans, providing one-on-one assistance, and creating an inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all children.
Currently the hours and days available are Monday and Tuesday’s from 11.30am to 4.30pm and Wednesday and Friday’s from 9.30am to 3.30pm. During vacation care the hours change for Monday and Tuesdays 9.30am to 3.30pm.
You can pick up additional hours, should you wish to.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with educators to support the inclusion of children with additional needs in all aspects of the day care program.
- Develop and implement individualised support plans in collaboration with families, educators, and external professionals.
- Provide one-on-one assistance to children requiring additional support, ensuring their safety, well-being, and active participation in activities.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff, promoting a culture of inclusion and respect.
- Assist in the development and adaptation of educational materials and activities to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Monitor and document the progress and development of children with additional needs, communicating regularly with families and educators.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in inclusion and early childhood education.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children with additional needs in an early childhood setting.
- Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and the National Quality Framework (NQF).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of all children.
Desirable:
- Current First Aid Certificate (including Asthma and Anaphylaxis management).
- Working With Children Check (or equivalent).
- Additional training or qualifications in special education or related fields.
