OUR STORY

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional landowners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people in the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.

The CLC provides its constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

THE ROLE

CL 6 (Commencing at $87,077 progressing to $100,027)

ONGOING CONTRACT

The Warlpiri people of Tanami region in remote NT seek a coordinator for the Northern Tanami Indigenous Protected Area (IPA). Employed by the Central Land Council (CLC) the IPA Coordinator will work closely with the traditional owners of the Northern Tanami Indigenous Protected Area and CLC’s Northern Tanami Rangers (the Rangers) to help coordinate land management in the Region.

Based and comfortably accommodated in Lajamanu and supported from CLC’s centre in Alice Springs, the Coordinator will work with regional traditional owners, the Rangers and the wider community to:

  • Implement the ‘Mardarnilipa ngurra manu kuruwarri tarnngangkupirrjirdili: Keeping countryalive and healthy’ Northern Tanami Indigenous Protected Area Plan of Management (thePlan);
  • Facilitate on-going cultural and natural resource management planning; &
  • Integrate the Rangers into the Plan’s implementation and faciliate other cultural and naturalresource management opportunities in the Region.
  • Implement the Warlpiri led ‘Yirtkaki Maninjaku, Reading the Country’ Aboriginal tracking training program into IPA activities and annual workplan.

Total effective package includes: base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Annual progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Progression is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
