Background
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is conducting a study on the impacts of recent crises on smallholders with Kenya, Tunisia, and Burkina Faso. The study is being implemented in the context of GIZ Green Innovation Center (GIAE) beneficiaries. GIAE aims to provide improve smallholders’ food security, income, and employment opportunities, particularly for youth and women, through supporting market linkages and the adoption of good agricultural practices. The IFPRI study aims to measure the impact of multiple global crises on smallholder agricultural production, commercialization, and resilience across the three study countries. The study will also explore how policy responses to multiple crises influence smallholders’ livelihood outcomes in the context of GIAE.
Activities
A consultancy service is being sought to contribute to the engagement of Key Informants from various government and value chain actors, such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, producer organizations, and processors within Kenya. Other key informants may include representatives from private sector organizations or sub-national governments.
Time required
IFPRI anticipates that the time required for this contract will be approximately 3 months.
Compensation
This is a cost reimbursable contract and the total payment to be made for the work under this agreement, excluding any reimbursable local transportation expenses, during year one of the project shall not exceed $10,000. All payments shall be made in U.S. currency, upon receipt of the actual number of days worked, a brief description of the work completed and the corresponding deliverables.
Deliverables
Deliverable #1:
· Development of KII questionnaires for private sector actors and government officials.
· Identification of key informants for the study.
Deliverable #2:
· Successfully conduct and record interviews with Key Informants.
· Transcriptions of Key Informant interviews
Deliverable #3:
· Codebook for interviews using NVIVO software.
· Coded interviews using NVIVO software.
· Written report presenting qualitative analysis.
