Background of the assignment: UNODC, as the guardian of the UNCAC, supports States Parties in its efforts to fight and prevent corruption. One of the main purposes of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) is to promote, facilitate and support international cooperation and technical assistance in the prevention of and the fight against corruption. The Conference of the States Parties to the Convention has repeatedly emphasized the importance of a whole of society approach and highlighted the importance of anti-corruption education (Article 13 of the UNCAC). Joining forces with governments, anti-corruption practitioners, the private sector and civil society, including youth and academia, to address corruption at all levels and restoring trust where it has been eroded is at the core of the work of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB) of UNODC. At UNODC headquarters and in the field, we support our stakeholders as they translate their commitments under the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) into day-to-day reality. The Conference of the States Parties to UNCAC is the Convention’s main policymaking body. The eleventh session of the Conference (COSP11) will take place in Doha, Qatar, from 15 to 19 December 2025. The Conference brings together Member States, international and regional organizations, civil society, and other stakeholders to advance international cooperation, assess progress, and guide future anti-corruption efforts. In support of these objectives and in the lead up to COSP11, the Communications Associate will assist in the day-to-day implementation of communications strategies and content production to ensure wide and impactful promotion of UNODC’s work and campaign efforts. Purpose of the assignment: The purpose of this assignment is to support the communications activities of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch and support the development and roll out of communication campaign strategies and content for COSP11, pre-COSP11 events and initiatives in relation to the ACE Awards, 5th Academic Anti-Corruption Symposium, anti-corruption hackathons, the Private Sector Forum, initiatives and activities of the Global Programme against Money-Laundering, the GlobE Network, and others. Under the supervision of the Assistant Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer, and in close coordination with the UNODC Advocacy Section, the Contractor will perform the following tasks: Support the development and roll out of campaign strategies and content for COSP11, pre-COSP11 events and initiatives in relation to the ACE Awards, 5th Academic Anti-Corruption Symposium, anti-corruption hackathons, the Private Sector Forum, initiatives and activities of the Global Programme against Money-Laundering, the GlobE Network, and others, as assigned. Develop visual and written content for UNODC’s online campaigns on anti-corruption and economic crime, including infographics, GIFs, videos, social media posts, web stories, and other multimedia assets. Ensure continuous implementation of campaigns by monitoring progress, identifying problems and issues, proposing corrective actions, taking appropriate follow-up actions, and analyzing outcomes.
