The Global Issues-EU Unit within the UNHCR Representation for EU Affairs oversees the donor relationship, policy and political partnership on all issues related to forced displacement and asylum outside of the European Union. In line with the Global Compact on Refugees, GI-EU Unit is growing its relationship with the European Union to maximize and harness opportunities with the EU in Brussels and in third countries, and to deliver on further strategic and financial EU support for protection of and solutions for the global forced displacement population. 

With the objective to boost greater involvement of the EU in forced displacement as a global governance issue, GI-EU Unit is strengthening the political and diplomatic branch in the relationship with all the European institutions. 

The purpose of the assignment is to support the GI-EU Unit on moving forward some emergent topics related to mixed movements with the EU Commission. 

Under the supervision of the Chief GI-EU Unit, the External Relations Assistant will:

• assist with the outreach to the Commission on all matters related to mixed movements, the GRF and resource mobilisation with Commission.
• assist the Unit in the Contract Management and reporting

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of previous job experience relevant to the function with a high school diploma ; No experience is required with a Bachelor or Master degree ;
• University degree preferably in the fields of International Relations/Political Science.
• Excellent drafting skills in English; Excellent command of English.
• Team player; Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
