MAIN DELIVERABLES: • Russian translation of the English original of the 2023 ASP report, including the narrative part and the annex with specific information about activities and projects. • The first draft of the translation should be delivered to the RCO as unformatted text. • Ensure that toponyms are treated accurately based on detailed instructions from the RCO. • Ensure that terminology is consistent with the previous report (2022), including technical terms and names of projects. • Submission of the translation as a .docx file to RCO Georgia. ACTIVITY TIME FRAME: • Receipt of English original from RCO no later than Wed 1 May 2024. • Submission of unformatted draft translation for RCO review no later than Thu 9 May 2024. • Submission of the final translation based on RCO feedback no later than Fri 17 May 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Economist of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia (RCO) and in coordination with contributors and drafters of the original text, the consultant will be responsible for drafting the Russian translation of the ASP annual report based on the English original, in line with the indicated time frame. The original English text of the 2023 ASP report is expected to be of approximately the same length as the 2022 report, which included 18,000 words (50 pages). Background: Since the mid-1990s, United Nations entities and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) have been working in Abkhazia to improve the living conditions for conflict-affected, displaced, and vulnerable communities. The Abkhazia Strategic Partnership (ASP) is chaired by the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia and serves as a forum for the exchange of information and enhanced coordination among UN entities and INGOs that work in Abkhazia, including the preparation of a joint annual report prepared in English and Russian. With the upcoming annual report for 2023, the ASP will provide relevant stakeholders with a joint account of the project activities implemented in Abkhazia in 2023. The original is drafted in English and will then be translated to Russian. The ASP report is not a public document.
Qualifications/special skills
University degree from an accredited educational institution in languages, international relations, international development, social sciences, or some other relevant discipline is required. At least three years of relevant professional experience with international organizations, government institutions, think tanks, or civil society organizations in a similar context is required..
Languages
• Fluency in Russian and English languages are required. • Excellent drafting skills in Russian is required. Technical expertise: • General awareness of conflict history and recent political developments in Georgia is strongly recommended. Core competencies • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. • Proven skills in translation, report writing, copy-editing, proof-reading or similar skills. • Ability to work independently in facilitating participatory corporate processes. • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
