Our school

The School of Health Sciences, one of four Schools within the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, excels in the teaching of allied health professionals and includes the disciplines of Physiotherapy, Medical Radiation Sciences (Diagnostic Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Therapy), Nutrition and Dietetics, Workplace Health and Safety, Occupational Therapy, Oral Health Therapy, Podiatry, and Speech Pathology. The disciplines within the School achieve a balance between advancing the professional research profile of their respective areas and working together to educate future healthcare workers in a multi-professional healthcare environment. 

The School enjoys a close collaboration with local health districts in providing clinical learning experiences for students, and in the conduct of research. We strive to prepare and develop students across the Health Science disciplines to function in a wide range of clinical settings, health facilities and services. 

Our academics are committed to teaching and learning strategies which develop and enhance knowledge, and the full range of clinical and interpersonal skills needed by diagnostic radiographers to function as effective and empathic practitioners.

As an Industry and Clinical Educator (ICE) you will contribute to the Teaching and Learning domain of academic work within the School of Health Science.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality clinical education, primarily in Diagnostic Radiography at the University of Newcastle. With a strong background of clinical experience and an understanding of contemporary professional and educational issues in Diagnostic Radiography, you will develop, teach and coordinate undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

You will work with the latest imaging equipment in the country while inspiring the next generation of radiographers. Our graduates are well regarded in the market and our Diagnostic Radiography course is highly rated by our students. You will be part of a Medical Radiation Education Team who are among the most highly regarded in Australia.

The successful candidate must hold, or be eligible for, unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Medical Radiation Practitioner.

The position is being offered on either a 2 Year Fixed Term Part-time or Job Share basis.

How you will inspire us 

You will:

  • Be registered with or eligible for AHPRA registration as a Medical Radiation Practitioner;
  • Have a sound understanding of contemporary professional and educational issues in Diagnostic Radiography;
  • Have significant current clinical experience as a Diagnostic Radiographer;
  • Be passionate about sharing your knowledge and experience to prepare work ready graduates.
