The Infodemic Management Officer, under the coordination of the Emergency, Preparedness and Response team lead collaborating closely with the External Relations Cluster will work directly with the National Directorate of Public Health, provincial health directorates, UN agencies and relevant stakeholders as part to improve Risk Communications and Community Engagement.
Description of duties:
- Assist in the development of COVID-19 Transition Plan and documentation of response and lessons learned with a focus on the RCCE pillar
- Work on monitoring discourse around COVID-19 and other diseases in media and social media, and other key sources
- Work with the Communications Officer on the Production of qualitative content to counter misinformation and fill information gaps
- Contribute to the documentation of lessons learnt and knowledge sharing activities
- Assist in the development of materials and system for risk communication and community engagement
- Work with the team to create partnerships and liaise with stakeholders to strengthen multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral collaboration to strengthen vaccination and combat its risk factors, such as rumours, including community engagement.
- Contribute to the development of strategies and plans to ensure regular rumour track and monitoring both in digital sphere and in the communities.
- Prepare bi-weekly thematic discourse analysis reports around thematic topics (example: vaccines, diseases…)
- Contribute to the setting up and management of the Viral Facts hotline and social media channels in Portuguese and provide at least one pieces of content per day addressing misinformation
- Assist in the organization of meetings, trainings, focus groups, production of key materials and events involving communities and key partners to both to understand the situation, and boost the dissemination networks and content though different channels.
- Perform any other functions as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, experience, skills and languages:
- Educational Qualifications
- Essential: First university degree in information management or information technology or communications or social science
- Desirable: Training or specialization in Infodemic management
Experience:
- Essential: 1 years’ experience in the promotion of social programmes and or communication, working with national / international organisations involved in risk communication, health promotion, public health or development.
- Desirable: Experience in monitoring and countering infodemics.
- Experience in developing training materials and modules.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly within short deadlines in a changing environment with competing priorities
- Strong understanding of risk communication and community engagement strategies.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of online dissemination of information, via social media mechanisms and the web and.
- Thorough understanding of the impact of communications on the reputation, image, and success of an organization, as well as the role the web and social media has in this regard.
- Using Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- editing skills
Languages and level required:
- Excellent knowledge of English and Portuguese
