United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is one of the main development organisations that contributes to poverty eradication and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. UNDP helps countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and to build resilience in order to sustain development results.

Venezuela faces political, economic, and security challenges that impact stability and UN support. The Peace and Development Team aids the UNDP and Resident Coordination Office with analysis, technical support, and conflict-sensitive programming. The team equips the UN Country Team to address challenges, promote recovery, and safeguard civic space.

As Information Analyst you support UNDP as follows:

  • Monitor national and international media outlets, gather and transcribe relevant statements and documents;

  • Track decisions and processes of international bodies regarding Venezuela;

  • Analyze various information sources to deepen understanding of Venezuelan developments;

  • Prepare weekly updates and regular written reports on contextual analysis;

  • Support UN internal coordination, including monitoring electoral rights and organizing meetings/workshops;

  • Etc.

Part of the Talent programme “Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group“, this position is sponsored by the Peace and Human Rights Division (PHRD). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid. Skills required

For the programme:

  • Swiss nationality;
  • Master’s degree;
  • Ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (min. 3 months – max. 24 months);
  • Max. 28 years old at the date of application;
  • Excellent command of English and 2 official Swiss languages (one active = C1/C2, one passive = A2/B1);
  • Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector.
  • Driving license for PHRD financed positions.

For this position:

  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Political Economy, Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, or a related discipline;
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in areas related to international affairs, political affairs, security, and/or information analysis;
  • Strong analytical / research skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A first experience in information management, information systems or other related experience would be highly regarded;
  • Fluent in English and working knowledge in Spanish.

Application deadline: 22 April 2025

First round of interviews carried out by cinfo: between 13 May and 22 May 2025

Final selection: made by the host organisation based on cinfo’s recommendation and a second interview with them. Selected candidates will be informed towards the end of June 2025.

Onboarding and training: The onboarding process will start after the selection. Selected candidates will have to attend mandatory predeparture training in August.

Entry on duty: Departure is possible after the mandatory training. The final departure date will be discussed after the selection and depends on several factors.
