What we are looking for

NRC is looking for an Information, Counselling, and Legal Assistance Project Manager to join the Myanmar mission. The role holder will be responsible for the implementation of the Information, Counselling, and Legal Assistance projects for the North-East Area Office in Myanmar. Statelessness; access to legal identity documentation; Housing, Land, and Property rights barriers; camp closures and camp reclassifications; access to essential services; and freedom of movement barriers will be the main areas of concern.

What you will do

  • Strategy development.
  • Project implementation (activities, budgets, and project documentation).
  • Technical direction and assurance of high quality of projects.
  • Project development, coordination and management, in line with strategies, proposals, and donor requirements.
  • Programme activities management in the North-East Area Office.
  • Technical themes monitoring, analysing, and reporting.
  • Emergency and protracted displacement legal aid response input, participation, and analysis.
  • Programme design and delivery.
  • People leadership by identifying and recruiting staff; as well as providing mentorship and support; and capacity building and training.
  • Stakeholder relations.
  • Forums/cluster/working groups participation and representation.

What you will bring

  • Humanitarian legal aid programme management experience.
  • Legal assistance expertise.
  • Legal identity documentation and statelessness; and Housing, Land, and Property rights knowledge and expertise.
  • Project management experience (including people management and motivation, project cycle management, monitoring and evaluation analysis, and donor reporting).
  • Humanitarian aid coordination in complex emergencies will be an added advantage..
  • Complex and volatile context exposure.
  • North-East Myanmar context exposure and knowledge, pertaining to displacement and humanitarian needs will be an added advantage.
  • English and Burmese fluency, both written and verbal.

 

What makes this position attractive?

  • NRC has delivered humanitarian assistance and protection to vulnerable affected populations in Myanmar since 2008, following Cyclone Nargis. Over that time, NRC has evolved into a complex and mature mission with an excellent reputation for technical skill and delivery of programmes.
  • NRC provides services and assistance to vulnerable populations affected by conflict and displacement over three geographical areas (Rakhine, North-East, and South-East Myanmar) and the Country Office in Yangon, across 10 offices. The portfolio of projects is currently larger than 15.

Its implementation covers the North-East Myanmar with programmatic interventions which embrace different areas. Currently NRC implements programs on Information, Counselling, and Legal Assistance, Education, Shelter, and Protection in this area office.

What we offer

  • Myitkyina, Myanmar duty station.
  • 12-month contract duration.
  • 25% travel, approximately.
  • Grade 8 in NRC’s Salary Scale, with accompanying terms and conditions. NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
