| ROLE PURPOSE: The Information Management Officer will report to the MEAL Coordinator, and will provide technical IM support to all members of the MEAL team in the Area Office (AO), across various projects. They will work closely with the MEAL officers, Information Management Manager, Accountability Coordinator, and other staff in the wider programs team. The IM Officer”s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting with data collection, storage, analysis and usage processes, information management systems development and maintenance, data protection, and working with the MEAL Coordinator on the systems related to the Field Monitor team. |
| KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: The IM Officer will be responsible for the following: Data collection, storage, analysis, and use: - Support the MEAL team in drafting online and offline data collection tools.
- Responsible for data validation activities conducted by the MEAL team, ensuring that data collected by SC and Partner teams is reviewed for completeness, consistency, and validity, and triangulated for accuracy.
- Responsible for the data management process by engaging in data cleaning tasks, ensuring that data collected by SC and Partner teams is consistent and free of errors.
- Upload data to relevant AO databases, follow up on online applications, and support the transfer of data if the database software is changed.
- Extract data from relevant databases, as requested by SC staff.
- Responsible for the compilation, organisation, and storage of all MEAL related data and files, and other program files when relevant, to ensure that all data follows SC storage guidelines.
- Responsible for archiving all data, in line with SC archiving procedures, including engaging in pseudonimsation and anonymisation processes.
- Responsible for the safe and ethical destruction of data at the end of the data life cycle, in line with SC data destruction procedures.
- Conduct regular field monitoring visits, to ensure data collection (disaggregation of data, use of attendance sheets and other tools) is done according to agreed procedures and standards.
- Support the MEAL team, including the MEAL Coordinator and IM Manager, in monitoring data quality through data audits and checks.
- Translate data reported by Field Monitors, and other data when necessary (Arabic/English).
- Support in performing data analysis tasks, including producing statistical charts, and information graphics.
Field Monitoring: - Support the management of a MEAL system for a team of Field Monitors, including the creation and review of MEAL tools, and the compilation, checking, cleaning, and analysing of data.
Information Management: - Support the IM Manager in the creation of user friendly program dashboards.
- Prepare presentations of program data to be used by the Officers, Coordinator, and Manager, as required.
- Support in the production of reports and factsheets, through proof reading, editing, content suggestions, and creating of graphics.
Systems development and maintenance: - Support the IM Manager in the development process for new IM systems, for both design and testing, including (but not limited to) SQL databases, KoBo, CommCare, and Arc GIS.
- Support database maintenance through regular testing of the database, identifying technical gaps, and suggesting solutions.
- Train team members in Information Management processes, with a focus on data quality and data protection/security.
Data Protection: - Participate in the design, contextualisation, and review of data protection procedures, and tools with the Data Protection Focal Point(s), IM Manager, and Head of MEAL.
- Support the implementation of data protection and security policies across MEAL activities in the AO.
Integration of values: - Contribute towards the integration of MEAL within SCI, as a core component of the programs team.
- Contribute to safe MEAL and SCI activities, ensuring compliance with policies on child safeguarding, PSEA, anti-harassment and bullying, health and safety, security, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination.
- Contribute to age, gender, and disability sensitivity, and child-focused programme implementation, promoting these methodologies across MEAL and SCI activities.
- Contribute to an approach of applied learning and adaptation based on evidence across MEAL and SCI activities.
- Contribute to people centred MEAL and SCI activities, that ensure that we respond to the needs of affected populations, maintain contextual relevance, and Do No Harm.
- Contribute to accountable and participatory MEAL and SCI activities, ensuring that accountability and participation are integral elements of all aspects of SCI”s approach to MEAL in SRO.
- Contribute to data protection and security by design as a core approach to MEAL, IM, and SCI activities, ensuring that key international and local legislation, SCI policies, and industry best-practices are followed.
