UNICEF is seeking the support of a national technical information management consultant to support collection of data, analysis of the trend and ensuring quality of information sharing and knowledge management on child protection data. The consultant will also support child protection related Area of Responsibilities (AoR) for effective information management including Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) process by developing Needs severity analysis, People in Need (PIN) and Planned reach calculation etc.

Scope of Work:

Under the overall guidance of the chief of section and direct supervision of Child Protection Officer, the national IM consultant will carry out the following tasks:

Information Management for the child protection:

  • The tasks encompass establishing a repository for child protection related information, collaborating with the Child Protection Officer to create standardized tools, consolidating data from diverse partners into comprehensive documents and presentations, maintaining data confidentiality, and coordinating with various organizations to ensure cohesion and compatibility in information management across different sectors.
Data Collection, Compilation and Analysis:
  • The tasks include collecting information from diverse sources, verifying data quality, contributing to the development of information management tools, facilitating capacity building for partner organizations’ IM/data focal persons, and developing cutting-edge data collection tools to ensure consistency and timeliness in information gathering.
Data Visualization:
  • The tasks include the development of easily understandable data visualization products such as maps, dashboards, infographics, and financial/resource analyses to facilitate informed decision-making. Comprehensive mapping exercises, including analyses of 5Ws, Needs and Gaps, and Services and Infrastructure, are conducted to gain a clear understanding of the child protection area, identify areas of need, and support effective planning and response strategies.
Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building:
  • The tasks include providing support to Information Management personnel, with an emphasis on fostering sustainable practices. The role involves assisting sub-national AoRs in information management matters, aiming to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance capabilities and consolidate trends and analysis in child protection. Additionally, the responsibilities include introducing and applying the latest trends and technologies, sharing best practices, and organizing capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the competencies of clients and stakeholders, with an overarching goal of promoting sustainable results in child protection.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in information management related field
  • Academic qualification Additional certificates related to data and/or knowledge management or other related field is an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Information Management relevant professional experience, preferably in child protection and/or other humanitarian contexts.
  • Experience in multiple information management software and development of visualization tools.
  • Familiarity and additional years of directly related experience including experience with either experience with the UN and/or NGO, experience in humanitarian Child Protection IM work is a strong asset.
  • Experience of Cluster/Sector coordination and understanding of the context in Myanmar would be a strong advantage
  • Proficiency in English and Burmese languages is required. Familiarity with other ethnic language is an asset
