Job share and flexible working patterns will be considered.

It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where the successful candidate can work from home and the office. However, as this role is contractually aligned to our Milton Keynes office it is expected that some attendance in the office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs. We’d expect this to be approximately once a month.

The University Secretary is responsible for the effective governance of the University and for its professional services. The University Secretary’s Office supports the University Secretary to enable the smooth running of the administration of the university, engaging with all areas of the University. The University Secretary’s Office manages the University’s governance and ensures that the regulatory conditions required by the Office for Students in England, the funding bodies, and other regulators in the UK nations and beyond (including the Information Commissioner’s Office) are met.

The role

The University is recruiting an Information Rights Manager to bolster the University’s response to personal data breaches. This is alongside providing assistance in finding resolutions to ongoing issues that have an impact on data protection and the University’s statutory obligations.

The postholder will strengthen the Information Rights team’s response to personal data breaches through collaboration with the University’s Information Security team and other stakeholders to resolve breaches and enact the necessary follow-up actions.

Skills and experience

You will have a demonstrable knowledge of Data Protection and ideally have practical experience of applying this in a workplace setting; be highly skilled in dealing with matters which require confidentiality, diplomacy and tact; have effective time management and prioritisation skills; have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; be a team player with a proven ability to collaborate with and support colleagues; and be a proficient IT user.
