Fundamental to this position is developing and overseeing
institutional giving strategies with the Chief Advancement Officer.
The position will build and manage the institutional giving
pipeline and grants calendar to achieve goals for foundation,
government, and corporate giving.  The ideal candidate has
proven administrative skills and a strong work ethic. Exceptional
organizational abilities, attention to detail, and strong verbal
and written communication skills are essential.  The utmost
discretion and confidentiality are required in all relationships
with the Museum’s external stakeholders as well as internal staff
and personnel. Independent judgment and initiative are
required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain Institutional Giving Calendar, identifying and
    researching prospective sources for grants.
  • Building relationships with funding organizations to facilitate
    the application process. Follow-up and track status of
    applications.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify funding needs,
    develop pitches, and gather information for informed grant and
    report submission.
  • Write and submit LOI’s and grant applications.
  • Build connections with local, state, and federal government
    stakeholders to identify funding opportunities and advocate for the
    Museum.
  • Maintain registrations and designations that facilitate our
    institutional giving goals (e.g., SAM, CDP, EITC).
  • Manage and grow corporate Matching Gift program.
  • Create corporate sponsorship materials and proposals, as
    needed.
  • Provide support for and attend various fundraising,
    stewardship, and cultivation events.
  • Create and maintain systems for tracking donor stewardship and
    other fundraising process documents as needed.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of organizational
    systems for effective file storage and knowledge management,
    including ensuring fundraising documents are well organized and
    named correctly in the shared drive and Salesforce.
  • Provide communications and operational support for Michener Art
    Museum fundraising activities.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-4 years of grant-writing experience.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and
    accuracy related to preparation of materials and
    presentations.
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, utilize data, and present
    information effectively.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate
    effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders,
    including senior leadership in-person and virtually.
  • Excellent project and team management skills.
  • Ability to anticipate, plan, prioritize and meet deadlines,
    manage multiple tasks, respond to numerous requests from various
    parties, and effectively handle a high volume of work.
  • Ability to deal with high-profile organizations and officials
    with diplomacy and integrity.
  • Tact and good judgment in handling confidential
    information.
