INSTRUCTIONAL LEARNING DESIGNER TO CO-CREATE AND ADAPT A BLENDED LEARNING PATHWAY FOR TEAMUP MASTER TRAINERS
Overview
War Child reaches many thousands of children and youth every year, yet there are 468 million children living with the effects of armed conflict. We will never reach them all by ourselves. Our strategic goal is to scale our impact by implementing evidence based methodologies with partners, so that together, we can support the mental health and well-being of millions of children affected by conflict.
TeamUp is a core component of War Child’s care system approach. It’s a movement-based mental health and psychosocial support intervention developed by War Child, Save the Children Netherlands and UNICEF Netherlands. TeamUp allows children to relieve stress and tension in their body while creating a sense of security within themselves and others.
Purpose of the project
To make the TeamUp methodology accessible to many more children and communities. We aim to collaborate with key stakeholders to co-design a scalable learning pathway for TeamUp master trainers. The starting point will be the current master trainer learning trajectory as well as learnings gathered from implementation across multiple settings and relevant working groups. This project also includes the integration of a competency tool and a tool to detect children in need of additional care.
In short we are seeking to create a Master Trainer Learning pathway which will:
- Support decentralized delivery, removing bottlenecks;
- Reduce time to implementation, taking into account the balance between learning needs, costs and quality;
- Increase transparency on progress of trainers;
- Provide clear guidance on contextualization;
- Support localization and sustainable implementation;
- Fully integrate the TeamUp values (We Do, We Model, We Care);
- Ensure scalability of the learning pathway through blended and accessible, relevant learning solutions.
Guiding principles for the development of the master trainer learning pathway:
- Inclusive, participative, experiential learning;
- Accessible (balancing time, quality, costs and needs);
- Scalable;
- Working from (local) strengths and priorities;
- Honoring the work of many practitioners.
Deliverables of the Instructional Learning Designer:
- A review of current learning resources related to the MT learning pathway;
- A co-created set of guiding principles for learning pathway design;
- A stakeholder map and an approach to inclusive design;
- A learner profile;
- Development of a storyboard with alignment between learning objectives, activities and assessment for MT learning pathway formulated with key stakeholders;
- A revised project charter (goals, scope, activities, deliverables) based on input from key stakeholders;
- The design and facilitation of workshops to get relevant input from key stakeholders;
- Recommendations for adaptation of the MT learning pathway based on workshop outcomes, learning objectives and guiding principles;
- Production of a prototype of the blended learning path outline;
- User-testing of the prototype and integration of feedback;
- Design and publish a revised learning path, (based on an existing learning path), including multimedia elements on the learning platform and in TeamUp manuals;
- Input on the current feedback model and alignment with master trainer community of practice to ensure learning paths are regularly evaluated and assessed for adaptation.
What we are looking for in a Instructional Learning Designer:
- A passion for co-creating adaptive learning materials;
- Strong facilitation skills to engage global/local multi-disciplinary stakeholders;
- An ability to ask the right creative questions to spark new solutions;
- Affinity with the TeamUp values: We Do, We Model, We Care;
- An ability and willingness to work from the existing TeamUp systems and content;
- Experience designing scalable learning models, ideally for the non-profit sector;
- Experience with using e-learning authoring tools/ learning management systems, and experience with digital badging/certification is an asset;
- Education in Learning Design, Digital Arts, or equivalent (using adult learning principles, methods, theories, and techniques) for global audiences;
- 5 years’ experience in designing engaging (blended) learning experiences/solutions;
- Ability to plan and develop a blended learning path that is activity-oriented, with a user experience design approach, making use of interactive e-learning components;
- Strong written and spoken English language skills, the ability to speak Arabic is a bonus;
